Chili Mouthwatering, Meatless Recipes Review

Chili Mouthwatering, Meatless Recipes

CHILE! MOUTHWATERING, MEATLESS RECIPES is one of ten chili books I refer to when I want to make chili differently than the two recipes I usually use. We have chili a lot in our house and both my Dad and my Mama have their favorite ways of cooking it. I grew up with their recipes and I have documented them in one of my "Amazon So You'd Like to Guides" and I hope you take a look at it. Both recipes are delicious, but when you've had them as often as I've had 'em, you sort of yearn for something a bit different. So, once a week, usually on Saturdays, I break out these ten books and search for a chili recipe I either haven't tried, or one I haven't made in a long time. Of course, like all cooks, I fudge a bit with the ingredients, but not all that much. I like to stick pretty close to the recipes, at least the first few times I make it, so I can get an idea of what the writer/recipe maker had intended.
And let me tell you, you'd be surprised at the subtleties there are in a chili recipe. As they say, no two chile recipes were created equal, but the recipes in this book have never let me down. I've got a lot of chili books, have tried a lot of recipes over the years, but the recipes here, like the recipes in my other nine fave books, have been consistently good. You can't go wrong with these mouthwatering meatless recipes.

300 Sensational Soups Review

300 Sensational Soups

I LOVE this book!!! I purchased it and had made several of the recipes when, to my delight, I watched Sara Moulton on Good Morning America choose it as one of the 10 best cookbooks of 2008. I could not agree more and admire Sara Moulton very much for finding this book among all of the books out there. These authors have written several cookbooks and I always look for new ones from them. I have never been disappointed by them. I highly recommend the Middle Eastern Lentil Soup with Garlic, which I served my family last night. I have also tried a more "comfort food" style by making the Pennsylvania Dutch Chicken-Corn Soup with Tiny Dumplings. To date I have prepared about half a dozen of the recipes and my family are all big fans. I am very much looking forward to their next book.

I love this book, and have started making at least one soup recipe a week from it. It's tough deciding which one to cook, in fact. What I love about it: The recipes are not complicated, and do not call for obscure, hard to find ingredients. She explains things very well and offers helpful tips. Many of the recipes are very inexpensive, too. In addition, most of the recipes don't have big long ingredient lists, which is a big plus in my opinion. And they're not loaded with fat, either. Yet they still taste wonderful. My two favorites are the parsnip soup (which I never would've expected to like!) and the butternut squash with lime, garlic and ginger. I can't praise this book enough.
