(More customer reviews)Since I have and love Rozanne Gold's entire Cooking 1-2-3 series, so I got Kids Cook to keep my series complete. Let me say, this is a wonderful cookbook for kids or adults. The book does not condescend to aspiring young cooks, but offers lots of useful start up directions, and 1-2-3 simple recipes. For more experienced cooks, there are more easy to use, but flavors to think about recipes. I can't wait to try all of them.

(More customer reviews)I teach fourth and fifth grades, and I bought this book thinking that it would offer fun and different ways to incorporate math into everyday life activities like cooking and eating. I found it to be out of date, average at best and did not really require the use of very much math. It is really more of a children's cookbook than a math activity book. I was disappointed.

Blue Moon Soup: A Family Cookbook: Recipes Review

(More customer reviews)I just finished reading Blue Moon Soup and was impressed by both the artwork and recipies. Jane has done her usual great job with the illustrations. She found an equally impressive partner with Gary Goss. His creative hand, adds a unique touch to the often simplictisit subject of childrens' cookbooks. He makes the recipies challanging, fun, educational and above all great tasting. I will be using this cookbook with my children all year. I also plan on purchasing several copies as Channukah gifts.

Salad People and More Real Recipes: A New Cookbook for Preschoolers and Up Review

(More customer reviews)This cookbook is a real gem in the world of children's cookbooks. All of the kids' cookbooks I have seen in the past are heavily laden with sugar, chocolate, and more sugar. This one focuses on simple, healthy recipes such as "Cool Cucumber Soup" with cucumber, mint, honey, and yogurt; or "Foccacia" made with storebought pizza crust, olive oil, and rosemary.
The format is wonderful, with 2 pages for the adult to preread, followed by 2 pages of picture directions, simple enough for a 3 yr. old to "read."
I feel good about sharing these recipes with my kids (ages 5 and 3) and I don't have to worry about inducing a euphoric sugar high! My only complaint is that the kids aren't thrilled with most of the recipes... they took one sip of the cucumber soup and said, "Yuck!" They liked the foccacia but picked off the rosemary. But I will keep trying!

Emeril's There's a Chef in My Soup Recipes for the Kid in Everyone Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the cookbook mainly for myself ( I am Emeril fan), wanting to use it with my daughter when she wanted to be in the kitchen with me. The recipes are really just his "regular stuff", meaning he didn't change anything to make them more desirable for children except for the names of the recipes (ie: Baby Bam Burgers, Little Mean Turkey Loaf, Broccoli with Seriously Cheesy Sauce, etc.) Only the names make them more desirable to children. Real pictures of the food are not included - they are simply colorful drawings that look real nice. My 7-year-old prefers real pictures of the food so she knows what she's going to be eating - so do I. In all, I like the book for myself to add to my Emeril collection, but my daughter has other kid's cookbook's that she prefers over this one. It's an "OK" kids cookbook. It was a nice attempt at a kids cookbook (the recipes ARE good) but I would reccommend going to the library and borrowing the book before deciding to buy it.

Pretend Soup and Other Real Recipes: A Cookbook for Preschoolers and Up Review

(More customer reviews)My daughter is only 3, but she participates a lot in these recipies. Lots of fun.
The names they give the foods and the pictures also make children more willing to eat the food. If you have a picky eater he/she will surely eat the creations from this book.
I appreciate that they didnt use a lot of fancy ingreadiants or get too rediculous with cutting things into shapes etc. like many kid's recipie books
The hide-and-seek muffins are awsome! they taste like shortcake w/ the strawberry baked right in!
